A value-add real estate private equity firm gearing up for its third fundraise is seeking a Controller to own finance, reporting, and fund operations in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.
This is a review-heavy leadership opportunity with a clear path to the CFO seat as the platform continues to scale and current CFO retires within a few years. Competitive compensation, strong benefits and real work-life balance.
What You’ll Do
Oversee all aspects of corporate, fund, and REIT accounting, including audits and tax coordination
Oversee third-party fund administrator and property managers; review fund and property-level financials.
Coordinate annual audits and tax filings with external firms; manage REIT testing and compliance.
Review lender/LP reporting packages; monitor covenants and insurance compliance.
Direct wires and intercompany transfers; maintain corporate financial statements.
Partner with principals and asset management on JV structures, portfolio analytics, and ad hoc requests.
Improve processes and controls; implement scalable best practices as the firm grows.
What We’re Looking For
7–10+ years in accounting/finance with real estate exposure; mix of public accounting + RE private equity strongly preferred (CPA a plus).
Familiarity with JV structure and fluency helpful; confident in reviewing third-party PM financials (Yardi/RealPage familiarity helpful).
Oversight experience with fund administrators; comfort coordinating audits/tax with external advisors.
Strong GAAP knowledge; experience across multi-entity structures and multiple states.
Advanced Excel; working knowledge of QuickBooks or similar.
Clear communicator, high judgment, and bias to action in a small-team setting.
Around $160k to $180k base + a target bonus around 20%
