Specialized Laboratory Technician University of Southern California – USC Keck School of Medicine – Alzheimer’s Therapeutic Research Institute (ATRI) is an academic institute committed to advancing the development of new treatments for Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) through innovative clinical trials.

ATRI is looking for a full‑time Specialized Laboratory Technician to support the Biomarker Laboratory and Biorepository. Under the supervision of the Lab Manager, you will perform a variety of laboratory procedures involving molecular biology approaches to AD research. You will build clinical research skills while working both independently and as a reliable team member.

Responsibilities Overview

Process, bank, and inventory human clinical trial samples following trial‑specific guidelines; manage clinical trial databases.

Assist with ongoing clinical trial sample management and new trial startup activities.

Provide general lab support, including managing freezer inventories, ordering supplies, maintaining inventory levels, and maintaining key lab automated equipment.

Comply with quality control policies and procedures, such as SOPs and EH&S regulations.

Apply critical skills: attention to detail, self‑directed problem solving, scientific understanding, and strong oral and written communication.

Minimum Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant life sciences field (substitution with combined experience and education allowed).

Four years of laboratory experience, including standard research techniques and operation/maintenance of lab equipment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Preferred Experience

Seven years of laboratory experience.

Proficiency in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and databases.

Location: San Diego, CA (onsite). Hourly pay range: $26.42 – $35.87.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree. Minimum Experience: 4 years. Minimum Field of Expertise: Degree in directly related specialized scientific field; previous specialized laboratory experience; knowledge of specialized laboratory equipment; working knowledge of lab procedures and testing; computer literacy.
