Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

• Two weekend shifts required per pay period (nights: Friday/Saturday, days: Saturday/Sunday)

• Nurse to patient ratios: 1:1-2 in ICU based on acuity, 1:3-4 in PCU

• Must take and pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract (80% passing score required)

• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS

• Float to PCU, MST, and EC ICU/PCU as needed in rotation with core staff

• First to float when census is low

• Care for patients with diagnoses including COVID, low level neuro, EVD, DKA, sepsis, post-surgical patients, cardiac surgical cases, and more

• Must have experience with IABP and Prismaflex CRRT preferred

• Strong EKG reading skills required

• Experience weaning and troubleshooting ventilators required

• Must be able to interpret ABGs

• Titrate critical care drips including pressors, paralytics, sedation, anti-arrhythmics, and anticoagulants

• Work with equipment including ventilators, Glidescopes, BiPap, CPAP, HFNC, and Vapotherm

• Monitor telemetry strips independently using Nihon Khoden monitors

• Professional scrubs required in any color except camo (transitioning to navy in October)

• Charting system: Cerner

• 8 hours general hospital orientation plus unit-specific training with preceptor

This regional medical center features a comprehensive critical care service line including a 12-bed CVICU, 8-bed COVID unit, 8-bed MS ICU, and 16-bed PCU (expandable to 20 beds). The facility maintains 24/7 intensivist coverage on the West campus with NP supplementation and around-the-clock house supervisor support. The critical care units are equipped with advanced technology and provide care for complex patients including fresh open heart surgery cases, trauma, and various intensive care needs.
