Location: US:WI:MILWAUKEE at our WI DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORIES facility.

FTE: 1.0 (Full Time). Standard Hours: 40.00. Shift: 1st shift (hours may vary based on department/organizational need).

WDL is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin regional health network. WDL specializes in delivering comprehensive, clinical laboratory services to clients ranging from large tertiary care centers to small community practices.

Summary Effectively manages the overall day to day operations 24/7 of the Pre-Analytic departments of the laboratory.

Responsibilities

Manages operations of Pre-Analytic departments, employees, and processes to ensure accurate and timely services are provided to the technical laboratory areas.

Partners with Wisconsin Diagnostic administration and the medical directors to achieve business and organization goals to meet the strategic goals and objectives of the laboratory, hospital and outside clients.

Collaborates effectively with technical managers to support specimen testing quality and efficiency.

Assures accurate standardization of processes and staff training and competency assessments of staff on all shifts.

Efficiently investigates and identifies problems, recommends creative solutions, and alternative courses of action, using Lean and/or Six Sigma processes.

Effectively implements and maintains effective risk management/control processes.

Supports, consults, and participates with quality assurance to maintain an active and measurable quality assurance and quality improvement program within the Pre-Analytic department.

Serves as core Pre-Analytic/accessioning consultant to physicians, hospital nursing leadership, and other professional client personnel.

On an ongoing basis and in a timely manner, writes, updates, and maintains departmental policies and procedures ensuring compliance with CAP, CLIA, HHS and other regulatory agencies.

Provides timely and sensitive problem resolution to internal and external customers, separating critical from non‑essential data, seeking alternative solutions, responding promptly to client concerns and incident reports, and ensuring follow‑up to prevent recurrence.

Interviews, selects, trains and motivates, coaches and mentors Pre‑Analytic leaders and staff. May assist in providing training as needed.

Ensures employees are familiar with and are regularly following policies and procedures; coordinates required periodic staff review and sign‑off on policies, regulatory items, minutes, safety updates, etc.

Communicates with employees regarding their performance and conducts regular performance appraisals, collaborating with department supervisors on significant performance issues and administering progressive disciplinary actions consistently and objectively.

Qualifications

Post‑high‑school education in business, management, process improvement or Clinical Laboratory Science; Bachelor of Science preferred.

Minimum of three years of leadership experience in a clinical laboratory environment.

Excellent leadership and organizational skills.

Demonstrated ability to train and motivate staff.

Experience with process improvement methodology such as Six Sigma, LEAN, etc.

Demonstrated ability to lead change management within self and direct/indirect reports.
