Cherry Talent Group
Cabinet Vision Engineer
Location: Richmond, CA | On-Site (Hybrid potential after onboarding) | Full-Time
Industry: Custom Cabinetry & Furniture
Salary: $75,000 - $95,000
About the Company This is a custom millwork and cabinetry shop that focuses on high-quality, detail-driven work not volume. Most projects are custom one-offs, not production repetition. The environment values craftsmanship, precision, and doing it right the first time. The team works collaboratively, supports each other, and expects the engineering side to stay connected to what's actually happening on the shop floor.
About the Role This position is a high-impact engineering seat. You will be taking architectural drawings, customer concepts, and internal designs and turning them into Cabinet Vision models, cut lists, machining data, and shop-ready documents. This is not just drawing cabinetry. This is making it buildable.
You’ll work closely with production, problem-solve design issues on the fly, and make sure information is correct before CNC and the shop touches it. The right person understands how cabinets are physically built and can engineer details that eliminate confusion downstream.
What You’ll Be Doing
Modeling custom cabinetry and millwork in Cabinet Vision
Producing accurate shop drawings, cut lists, parts lists, and machining data
Supporting the shop floor with real-time questions and technical clarifications
Translating architectural drawings into clean, buildable engineering
Maintaining and improving Cabinet Vision standards, rules, and libraries
Solving buildability issues BEFORE they become production problems
Prioritizing speed and accuracy across multiple concurrent jobs
What the Right Person Looks Like
3-5+ years of Cabinet Vision experience (or Microvellum / similar millwork engineering)
Understands custom cabinetry, joinery, hardware, materials, and how it all actually gets built
Strong problem-solver sees around corners and anticipates issues before they hit the floor
Communicates clearly with shop floor + project managers
Comfortable moving fast every job is different here
Degree not required capability and experience matter more
Bonus points if you’ve used VCarve, Alphacam, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or SolidWorks.
Pay & Benefits
$75,000 - $95,000 annual salary (depending on experience)
Kaiser medical insurance (employer pays 90% of premium)
Holidays
PTO: 1 week after first year
Flexible scheduling available over time
Culture & Environment This is a team-oriented shop where everyone helps each other and precision matters.
Engineers typically align with shop hours (6:00am 2:30pm) to stay in sync with production. On-site presence is essential for training and integration. Once up to speed, hybrid flexibility is possible but this role must be close enough to the shop to support real-time problem solving and changes.
If you want repetitive, cookie-cutter drafting work this is not it. If you want to engineer highly custom, high-quality builds this could be a great fit.
