Chapman and Cutler LLP is seeking to hire a Senior Counsel attorney to join the Public and Institutional Banking and Finance Practice Group in the Banking and Financial Services Department. The successful candidate must have at least 3–7 years of experience practicing transactional law at a large or medium‑size firm. While residency in the Chicago office is preferred, residency at other Chapman offices is possible.
Base Pay Range $235,000.00/yr - $350,000.00/yr
In accordance with the Illinois Pay Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Illinois position is between $235,000 to $350,000.
Desired Experience and Qualifications
Experience representing lenders in commercial lending transactions, in particular, secured and unsecured term loans and revolving lines of credit from origination through documentation
Experience preparing reimbursement agreements, letters of credit and liquidity facilities utilized in connection with public finance transactions
Familiarity with municipal finance, banking, and securities underwriting, including bond issuance, municipal general obligation and revenue bonds, tax and revenue anticipation notes and municipal lease obligations
Specific experience dealing with nonprofit hospitals, nursing homes, universities and cultural institutions, exempt facility bonds financing housing, airports, utilities, solid waste and resource recovery facilities, student loan bonds, small issue industrial development bonds and commercial paper programs
Strong academic credentials and superior interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills
Commitment to client service, ability to handle fast‑paced transactions, juggle multiple projects and deadlines, and remain flexible in work situations
Willingness to accept constructive feedback
Members in good standing of the appropriate state Bar
