As a Fleet & Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be a key member in optimizing and maintaining company equipment. You will be responsible for fixing and maintaining company vehicles/equipment and ensuring detailed records are kept. Ultimately, the Fleet & Heavy Equipment Mechanic should be able to ensure that the Company’s vehicles/equipment are maintained at all times in an efficient, safe, and economical manner.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Diagnostic Assessment: Perform diagnostic tests and inspections on fleet vehicles and heavy equipment to identify any mechanical issues, using a variety of tools and diagnostic software.

Equipment Upgrades: Implement upgrades and modifications to improve vehicle/equipment performance and safety as directed.

Emergency Repairs: Provide rapid response to breakdowns and perform emergency repairs in the field to minimize downtime and ensure continued operation of the fleet.

Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies, ensuring all necessary parts are available when needed and ordering new supplies as necessary.

Training and Mentorship: Train and mentor junior mechanics and apprentices, providing guidance and sharing expertise to ensure quality maintenance and repairs.

Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed technical reports on vehicle and equipment status, including any defects, repairs made, and future maintenance recommendations.

Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding vehicle and equipment operation and maintenance, ensuring all fleet operations are in compliance.

Fuel System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicle fuel systems, ensuring proper function and efficiency.

Tire and Wheel Maintenance: Conduct inspections and repairs on tires and wheels, including alignment, balancing, and replacement as necessary.

Welding and Fabrication: Perform welding and fabrication tasks to repair or modify equipment as required.

Hydraulic Systems: Service and repair hydraulic systems, including cylinders, pumps, and valves to ensure proper operation.

Electrical Systems: Diagnose and repair electrical issues in fleet vehicles and heavy equipment, including wiring, lighting, and control systems.

Compensation

$28.00-$35.00

Basic Qualifications

Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with diesel engines, transmissions, and heavy-duty equipment systems.

Certifications: Relevant certifications in automotive and heavy equipment repair, such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications.

Safety Compliance: Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to fleet and heavy equipment maintenance.

Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose complex mechanical issues and develop effective repair solutions quickly.

Physical Fitness: Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, working in various positions, and operating heavy machinery.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, supervisors, and external vendors.

Customer Service: Strong commitment to providing high-quality service and support to ensure the satisfaction of all internal and external customers.
