Dean of the College of Medicine . Founded in 2010, CMU’s College of Medicine is a mission‑driven institution committed to educating culturally competent physicians who serve rural and medically underserved communities across Michigan and beyond. With its primary campus currently in Mount Pleasant and a robust network of clinical affiliates throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region, CMU offers a distinctive model of community‑based medical education. The College’s curriculum emphasizes early clinical exposure, interprofessional collaboration, and service learning, preparing graduates to lead in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. CMU’s College of Medicine has earned national recognition for its impact. In the most recent U.S. News & World Report rankings, CMU placed among the top 20 medical schools in the country for serving Health Professional Shortage Areas and rural communities. The College’s 100% residency match rate for the Class of 2025 reflects the strength of its clinical training and the dedication of its faculty and partners. At this pivotal moment, CMU seeks a strategic, visionary, and community‑centered leader to serve as its next Dean. Reporting to the Provost & Executive Vice President, the Dean will oversee the College’s academic enterprise, clinical operations, and research portfolio. The Dean will guide the College through a period of transformation, including the consolidation of operations in Saginaw in the coming years and the development of a new medical education facility. This is a high‑visibility opportunity to shape medical education, expand clinical and research impact, and strengthen partnerships across a multi‑site footprint. The ideal candidate will have an earned doctoral degree (M.D., D.O., and/or Ph.D.) and be a seasoned academic leader with a record of success in medical education, clinical operations, and research development. They will bring emotional intelligence, collaborative spirit, and a deep commitment to CMU’s mission. Experience in community‑based medical education, rural health, and interprofessional collaboration is strongly preferred. The Dean must be a relationship‑builder who can speak the language of both academic and clinical stakeholders, and who will champion CMU’s values across the university and the region.
