Full-Time, 40 hours per week, Sunday - Thursday

The Worship Associate (Music Director) plays a vital role in leading people to follow Christ by supporting the Worship Pastor and fostering Christ-centered, Spirit-led worship. This role combines musical leadership with volunteer development, production support, and pastoral collaboration. The Worship Associate will help facilitate worship services, lead rehearsals, mentor musicians, oversee special music projects, and contribute to the ongoing growth of the Worship Ministry.

Duties and Responsibilities Musical Leadership:

Facilitate authentic and dynamic worship experiences during all services and events

Serve as Music Director and Band Leader for Sunday services and other events

Actively participate as a musician for Sunday services and other events, modeling excellence and humility in worship

Lead weekly band rehearsals (Wednesday nights), preparing musicians for Sunday services and special events

Oversee and execute musical leadership for Sunday services and other events, with direction from the Worship Pastor

Oversee musical growth tracks for band members

Creative & Production Support:

Collaborate with the Worship Pastor in planning services and special events

Arrange, coordinate, and facilitate special projects such as songwriting, recording, and custom arrangements for choir, orchestra, band, and frontline vocalists

Ensure rehearsal resources (music, charts, books, tracks) are prepared and distributed in advance

Oversee care and maintenance of church-owned musical equipment, coordinating repairs or upgrades as needed

Recruit, train, and disciple worship team volunteers, equipping them for both musical and spiritual growth

Cultivate a Christ-centered community of worshippers in collaboration with the Worship Pastor and Worship Team

Assist the Worship Pastor in casting vision for God’s calling direction of creative expressions of worship across multiple venues and campuses

General Responsibilities:

Attend worship staff meetings, rehearsals, Sunday services, and maintain weekly office hours

Support production needs for various ministries within the church as assigned

Perform other duties as assigned

Spiritual Requirements:

Have and maintain a personal, growing relationship with Christ

Demonstrate a passion for God and personal consistent practice of spiritual disciplines

Confirm alignment with Cross City’s beliefs, as outlined in the Baptist Faith and Message (2000), and especially the 7 beliefs covering The Bible, The Trinity, Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit, Man, Salvation, The Second Coming, and Marriage

Actively attend and participate at Cross City Church, or commit to begin doing so upon hire

Skills/Experience Requirements:

Proven experience or employment in worship leadership, preferably 1-2 years

Strong proficiency on a primary instrument (guitar or piano), with ability to lead effectively

Ability to read lead / rhythm charts and utilize Nashville Number System

Working knowledge of worship technology and production tools, such as Ableton Live, Planning Center Online, in-ear monitor systems, AV equipment, etc.

Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational and project management skills

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, focused on collaboration and team-oriented
