Overview:
The Child Abuse, Prevention, Intervention, and Treatment (CAPIT) therapist is responsible for conducting culturally sensitive, trauma-informed treatment for groups, individuals, and families of all ages who have experienced or witnessed child maltreatment, domestic violence, and/or sexual assault in a multidisciplinary setting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of a licensed Clinical Supervisor, the therapist will conduct in-person counseling weekly and/or provide Telehealth or in-office services for clients enrolled in the CAPIT program. The counselor will use a strength-based model to:
Assess child and family needs
Address child maltreatment risk factors and causes
Design interventions to promote child safety, parental capacity, and family strengths
Identify and respond to red flags and crises
Provide referrals and linkages
Advocate for children and families
The counselor may attend Child and Family Team (CFT) or Multidisciplinary Case Planning Committee (MCPC) meetings for DCFS-referred families. They will complete case documentation promptly, coordinate services to meet referral needs, and may provide onsite counseling as needed. Additional duties include providing backup coverage across agency programs.
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy from an accredited institution
Registration as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, or Associate Clinical Social Worker by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences
Willingness to complete State Certification in Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office) and internet access
Criminal clearance, valid CA driver’s license, and transportation
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Flexible schedule; bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to conduct psychological assessments, prepare reports, establish respectful relationships, maintain confidentiality, exercise judgment, make diagnostic and intervention suggestions, prioritize problems, adhere to ethics, analyze situations, and work effectively with diverse populations. Knowledge of psychological assessment, crisis intervention, family abuse etiology and treatment, and community resources is required.

Physical & Work Environment:

Pay, Benefits, & Schedule:
This position is employed through TUC. The hourly rate ranges from $23.55 to $28.00 . It is a part-time role (20 hours/week).
