Responsibilities
Lead compliance across manufacturing sites, suppliers, and co‑packers to ensure adherence to USDA, FDA, FSMA, SFCR, HACCP, SSOPs, and Good Manufacturing Practices, driving continuous improvement in food safety and quality standards.
Serve as a subject‑matter expert and HACCP Coordinator/PCQI, providing guidance on regulatory requirements, product safety, labeling compliance, and special claims for safe and compliant product development.
Act as the main point of contact for regulatory agencies (FSIS, FDA, CFIA, State/Military authorities) and lead corporate recall processes, mock recalls, and crisis management programs.
Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Procurement, Planning, and R&D teams to support new product launches, specification approvals, ingredient compliance, packaging innovations, and regulatory risk assessments.
Monitor emerging regulatory trends, enforcement actions, and global food safety risks; serve as liaison with Scientific & Regulatory Affairs to align company strategies with evolving regulations.
Manage import/export compliance programs, including SFCR, FSVP, USDA import permits, and CFIA audits; oversee packaging reviews, documentation, and certifications for smooth global trade.
Lead regulatory import/export audits and verifications, collaborating with internal teams and external agencies to ensure robust compliance and timely issue resolution.
Direct and mentor FSQ team members, fostering a high‑performing compliance culture aligned with company values.
Maintain FSQ documentation systems and coordinate comprehensive employee training on crisis management, PCQI, regulatory updates, and lessons learned.
Travel up to 30% domestically.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, Food Safety & Technology, Regulatory Affairs, International Trade, or a closely related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 7+ years in an FSQ focused leadership role involving manufacturing food subject to USDA or FDA inspection, or a similar FSQ management role.
HACCP and Preventive Controls (PCQI) certification required.
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and programs (FSMA, SFCR, FSVP, USDA, FDA).
Experience supporting regulatory audits and managing import/export compliance.
Compensation and Benefits The base salary range for this position is $104,625 - $174,375 annually with eligibility for a 20% annual incentive bonus based on organizational performance.
