Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a

Environmental Health & Safety Engineer

at our aerospace manufacturing facility in

Carson, CA .

Key Responsibilities

Lead and offer guidance to site team on risk assessment and risk prediction to mitigate risk of task‑based activities as well as facilitate safety team meetings, problem‑solving teams/meetings and EHS planning meetings within the organization.

Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety Requirements.

Support location EHS Manager in the overall EHS process implementation and oversight.

Support development and implementation of the EHS management system.

Write procedures, administer requirements, and conduct record‑keeping.

Investigate all EHS incidents.

Coordinate the development of systems to ensure incidents/quarterly metrics are kept per guidelines.

Assist with site emergencies (spill response/guidance/coordinating training).

Ensure compliance with all EHS regulatory requirements and company standards.

Demonstrate knowledge of EHS Management Systems including ISO 14001:2015.

Provide oversight for effective EHS internal audit self‑assessment program.

Provide direction and oversight for the respective EHS Single Point Accountable (SPA’s).

Coordinate EHS training programs and provide training for employees as needed.

Establish permanent EHS files for all units under their control following company policies and procedures for records administration and retention.

Participate in investigation teams as required to assure prompt, thorough incident review and make appropriate corrective action recommendations.

Participate in continuing professional education to stay current and competent in the respective EHS profession through seminars, courses, literature review, etc.

Prepare and submit reports and other required submittals to company and all local, state, and federal regulatory bodies.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety and/or Environmental Engineering.

Minimum 2 years of professional experience in an environmental, health, and/or safety function.

Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Knowledge of aerospace forging, machining, & fastening processes.

Strong knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying, and documenting federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Familiarity with machine guarding and industrial hygiene programs.

Experience with emergency response communication and incident management involving hazardous and non‑hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water.

Strong proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and related computer skills.

Knowledge of general OSHA regulations and fire department agency requirements.

Knowledge of health and safety programs (e.g., Powered Industrial Trucks, LOTO, Fall Protection).

Knowledge of environmental permits: CUPA, RCRA, Sanitation District Permits, South Coast AQMD, Water Boards, Los Angeles Department of Public Works.

Benefits/Salary The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), an excellent 401(k) matching program, paid holidays and vacation. The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $104,000.
