Position: In Vivo Pharmacology Scientist (Principal Scientist) – Inflammation Research The Department of Inflammation Research seeks a dedicated, driven, and independent Principal Scientist (manager) to join the In Vivo Pharmacology (IVP) group. The role involves designing and executing experiments that explore and understand the pharmacology of drug targets; generating, communicating pharmacology and preclinical data to support research projects; and providing technical expertise to therapeutic area scientists. The candidate may manage up to one report, contribute to project teams, and collaborate with scientists at multiple Amgen sites.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Independent and proactive scientist who contributes to cutting‑edge science and serves patients in a highly productive team environment.
Strong understanding of Immunology and Inflammation biology and principles.
Willingness and curiosity to learn and explore new research areas.
Hands‑on expertise in animal (mouse and rat) handling and in vivo techniques (i.v., i.p., p.o., i.d., s.c., i.t., bleeds, necropsy).
Experience designing and executing concurrent in vivo preclinical inflammation and autoimmune disease models, including colitis, lupus, and arthritis models.
Experience with cellular, biochemical, histological, and molecular biology assay techniques (e.g., ELISA, MSD, quantitative RT‑PCR, BCA protein measurements) and multicolor flow cytometry including spectral flow.
Computer literacy, with proficiency in GraphPad Prism, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational and communication skills, and accurate & timely record keeping and data analysis.
Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement.
Ability to work in a flexible, team‑oriented environment.
Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree, or
Master’s degree and 2 years of drug discovery experience, or
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of drug discovery experience.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD degree and post‑doctoral training (or drug discovery experience) in Immunology, inflammation, autoimmune disease, or related disciplines; 3–5 years of management experience.
Experience leading in vivo contributions on project teams.
