Overview
Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering (KIWE) seeks a Senior‑Level Mechanical Engineer to support our Industrial division across Kiewit offices. Applicants will lead design projects, mentor junior engineers, and maintain Kiewit standards and tools to contribute to project success. Location
Colorado – Lone Tree Kansas – Lenexa Texas – Fort Worth Texas – Houston Texas – West Lake Fully remote candidates exceeding requirements will be considered and relocation assistance provided. Responsibilities
Design, coordinate, and oversee mechanical systems for biogas, bulk solids handling, water and wastewater treatment, pump stations, pipeline conveyance, groundwater remediation, stormwater recycling, and other industrial facilities. Prepare calculations for pressurized and gravity‑driven systems; size lines, select materials, and apply code requirements. Manage design calculations and equipment specifications of process equipment such as conveyors, dust collection, bins/tanks, pumps, heat exchangers, boilers, and other equipment. Coordinate mechanical design within multi‑disciplinary teams and oversee third‑party engineering. Review contracts, RFPs, and service agreements to incorporate design requirements. Provide oversight and coordination to meet project budgets and schedules for all mechanical discipline activities. Manage internal and external design partners, construction partners, equipment suppliers, and other engineers; review work progress. Perform detailed technical bid analyses for equipment typical for industrial facilities. Generate and check design deliverables (PFD, P&ID, process simulations, datasheets, vendor shop drawings) in accordance with industry codes and standards. Support the construction team on‑site, answer RFIs, provide creative design solutions. Develop schedules, work assignments, and staffing requirements to ensure successful project completion. Perform early design work: conceptual studies, process flow diagram development, mass/energy balances, preliminary equipment sizing and selection, and general facility layout. Train, mentor, and advise peers and support staff on industry standards and best practices. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an ABET‑accredited university. Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred or willing to obtain. Minimum of 10 years of industry‑related mechanical or process engineering experience focused on industrial facilities. Experience leading an engineering and design team as a senior or lead engineer preferred. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Preferred experience utilizing AFT Fathom or AFT Arrow hydraulic simulation software (or equivalent). Benefits
