Managing Counsel, Product (Please note, this is not a People Manager role) . We are looking for a talented and eager lawyer, who is interested in helping with our mission: to deliver pragmatic and innovative legal solutions for Remote’s products and stakeholders while protecting Remote from unacceptable risk. Remote’s well‑established Legal team is a friendly, highly motivated group of lawyers from many countries, with diverse experiences.

What You Bring

Qualified Lawyer: Seasoned lawyer with extensive experience in product counselling (jurisdiction agnostic; multiple bars a plus).

Product Counsel Experience: Prior HR‑tech exposure (EOR/PEO/HRIS/Payroll) advising at scale across multiple jurisdictions.

Strong command of emerging AI frameworks (EU AI Act, UK approach, U.S. state/federal developments, Canada AIDA) and their interplay with data protection (GDPR/CCPA) and employment transparency rules.

In‑house Legal Experience (bonus).

Startup Experience (bonus).

Tech Passion: Passionate about tech and HR‑tech products.

Exceptional analytical and organisational skills.

Fluent in written and spoken English.

Tech‑savvy with tools such as Slack, Juro, Notion, Google Drive, or equivalent.

Remote work experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Own HRIS and AI product counselling end‑to‑end, including AI impact assessments, model cards, and risk controls with Privacy/Security.

Draft and negotiate product terms and AI‑specific clauses (training/usage of data & metadata, output/IP ownership, acceptable use, transparency).

Embed a risk‑based legal review into product development workflows.

Manage external counsel on complex, multi‑jurisdictional issues; drive clear, practical outcomes.

Deliver targeted enablement (trainings or office hours).

Partner with Privacy & Security on DPIAs/TIAs, incident response, and vendor/LLM diligence.

Proactively monitor new AI and technology regulations and translate those into concrete, actionable steps for product, design, and engineering teams.

Figure out solutions rather than just escalating problems.

Bonus Points

Experience working with AI/ML legal and compliance issues.

Shipped at least one AI feature in production and built the accompanying legal/governance framework.

Experience working remotely.

Practicals

You’ll report to: Managing Counsel, Commercial & Product.

Annual salary range for this full‑time position:

$67,950 — $152,900 USD .
