What This Role Will Be Doing The management of Wausau Supply Company’s supply chain is a key component to providing outstanding service at the lowest cost and best value to customers we serve. The Logistics Manager oversees the dispatch of all loads, manages all routing development, as well as product and material movement utilizing various modes of transportation. The Logistics Manager also leads and manages projects, including budgets, timing, and execution of distribution initiatives with support from the Director of Logistics and the VP of Distribution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manages route planning and dispatch processes companywide.
Oversees assigned dispatch staff and the overall execution of routing including freight to customer and internal transfers.
Builds best practices and SOPs for routing and dispatch for Wausau Supply Company.
Works with Sales and Distribution teams to determine best routing practices and execution.
Monitors transportation/logistics efficiency and assures performance is aligned with department and company goals and objectives.
Serves as a primary resource for cost‑effective inventory movement analysis.
Mentors and develops direct reports.
Works as a liaison between the corporate supply chain, production, sales, and DC operations’ teams to ensure alignment of logistics with strategic initiatives and volume requirements.
Promotes understanding of logistics opportunities for internal and external customers.
Proposes innovative network design strategies.
Identifies trends and opportunities for strategic cost control and unexploited savings. Optimizes the transportation network by continuously evaluating status‑quo, using software tools, applying management methodologies.
Leads and sponsors continuous improvement initiatives associated with logistics and customer deliveries.
Serves as a primary project manager for Distribution initiatives.
Logistics Manager Traits
Ability to manage multiple demands while maintaining solid communication skills both verbally and especially by e‑mail.
Ability to make sound basic financial decisions for all warehouses as needed, with the best interest of the company.
Ability to work independently while demonstrating leadership skills that portray excellent teamwork mentality.
Overall safety mindset is crucial to create an embedded culture of safety within the employee population.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or a related field and 5‑10 years of relevant fleet management, transportation, or network optimization experience. 10+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
Experience working with fleet operations software, ERP systems required. Experience with network optimization tools desired.
Experience successfully managing cross‑functional projects.
Proven experience managing and reporting financial results to senior leadership.
Advanced experience with Excel. Previous experience building presentations in Powerpoint.
Experience using business intelligence software and analyzing data to reach conclusions.
Working Demands / Physical Requirements
Complete work at a desk sitting or standing using a PC.
Ability to stand/bend/walk for long periods of time.
Ability to drive or fly for long periods of time.
Travel as needed up to 25%.
