Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Ribbon Communications Solutions Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join a remote team supporting secure VoIP infrastructure for global DoD operations. As the Ribbon SME, you will serve as the technical lead for all Ribbon‑related systems, providing hands‑on support, advanced troubleshooting, and knowledge transfer to a small team of voice engineers. This role is ideal for a seasoned voice professional with deep expertise in Ribbon SBCs and a passion for mentoring others.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Ribbon Platform Operations
Serve as the primary SME for Ribbon Communications solutions, including SBCs, Application Servers, and provisioning tools.
Mentor and Train Team Members
Provide technical guidance, documentation, and hands‑on training to junior and mid‑level engineers on Ribbon architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Support VoIP Infrastructure
Collaborate with Cisco and Juniper voice teams to maintain a secure, resilient voice and video network across classified and unclassified environments.
Troubleshoot SIP and Call Flow Issues
Perform advanced diagnostics on SIP signaling, trunking, media flow, and interconnectivity between Ribbon and other platforms (CUCM, Avaya, Oracle SBCs).
Integrate and Optimize Ribbon Systems
Design and implement routing plans, dial plans, and policy configurations to ensure high availability and call quality.
Participate in Change Management
Document configurations, validate system changes, and support capacity planning and lifecycle upgrades.
Collaborate Across Teams
Work closely with NOC, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams to ensure compliance with DoD security protocols and operational standards.
Required Qualifications
Active DoD Secret Clearance
5+ years of experience supporting enterprise voice systems, with 3+ years of hands‑on Ribbon Communications experience
Deep understanding of Ribbon SBCs, Application Servers, and SIP trunking
Strong knowledge of SIP signaling, call flow analysis, and VoIP troubleshooting
Familiarity with Cisco CUCM, Unity, CUBE, and Avaya Aura
Experience with Juniper and Cisco routing/switching (JNCIA or CCNA preferred)
Proficiency with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark)
Working knowledge of DoD voice environments, including classified/unclassified networks
DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CySA+, GSEC)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with OCOM (Oracle Communications Operations Monitor)
Prior experience supporting DISA Voice Services or similar DoD NOC environments
Strong documentation and training skills
Compensation
Salary: $130,000-200,000 (depending on experience)
