About the Role Brown Rudnick seeks a qualified attorney with at least 10 years of experience in environmental and real estate law to join its Real Estate, Energy & Environmental Practice Group. The role focuses on advising clients on land use, zoning, regulatory permitting, and environmental risk in real estate and business transactions within Massachusetts, navigating complex local and state permitting processes, and providing strategic counsel on regulatory compliance. Candidates should also have experience counseling clients on environmental risks and liabilities in the context of real estate and business transactions, with particular value placed on work related to RCRA, CERCLA, and agency enforcement actions. In addition, a general real estate transactional background and familiarity with construction law—experience with acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, or development agreements—are considered a plus.

This position offers a flexible schedule and a professional‑track attorney seeking part‑time, hourly compensation. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with a collaborative team on complex, high‑impact matters that influence development and environmental strategy across Massachusetts and beyond.

Responsibilities Key responsibilities include:

Advising clients on land use, zoning, and regulatory permitting matters.

Navigating complex local and state permitting processes.

Providing strategic counsel on regulatory compliance.

Counseling clients on environmental risks and liabilities in real estate and business transactions.

Handling work related to RCRA, CERCLA, and agency enforcement actions.

Managing acquisition, disposition, leasing, or development agreements.

Qualifications

Outstanding academic credentials and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Comparable law firm or other relevant experience; clerkship experience preferred.

Experience with Massachusetts environmental laws, land use, and permitting.

JD required.

Admission to the Massachusetts Bar.
