Overview The Clinical Decision Support Data Coordinator will effectively and efficiently provide clinical data for the purpose of driving performance improvement activities to ensure positive patient outcomes. The position will coordinate with the Quality Performance Improvement Specialist and other operational team members to facilitate performance improvement teams within a service line model.
Key Responsibilities
Produce and submit clinical data reports as requested by administration, clinical departments, or committees using available information systems and databases.
Participate in statistical analysis, interpretation, and monitoring of clinical data.
Perform data abstraction and chart reviews, ensuring accurate and timely collection of clinical data.
Review data for external data requirements and benchmarking.
Attend and support applicable assigned committees and PI teams.
Provide current real‑time clinical data for clinicians and administration to direct patient care and address PI outcomes and operational goals.
Education / Experience
Degree in Nursing; Bachelor’s degree preferred with minimum 3–5 years of hospital nursing experience.
OR undergraduate clinical degree or computer science/information degree with minimum 5 years of healthcare‑related work experience.
At least 1–3 years of performance improvement and metric abstraction experience preferred.
Prior experience in chart review and data abstraction strongly preferred.
Knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) and CMS terminology, ICD‑9/DRGs, and current performance improvement methodologies (FOCUS PDCA, Lean, Microsystems) preferred.
License / Certification
Active RN licensure required, if applicable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency with Word, Excel, and other Microsoft applications.
Knowledge base of clinical core measures and abstraction process.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external contacts.
Self‑directed, highly motivated, and able to function in a high‑stress environment with changing priorities.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Position requires sitting for 50% of the workday and mobility for 50% of the workday.
Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Frequent reaching, use of hands, and repetitive actions.
Occasional lifting or carrying up to 15 pounds; pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
Continuous clear diction and hearing sensitivity required for communication.
Visual acuity at close and distant range required.
Exposure to computer work and occasional risk of electrical shock.
Possible exposure to infectious disease and hazardous chemicals; occasional radiation.
