Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (LCDs) used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors. Responsibilities Manufacturing Associates are responsible for raw materials, in-process ware flow, subassemblies, and finished goods used within the cable manufacturing process. Beginning of shift check with Production Coordinator regarding assignments and production priorities. Load and unload raw materials; ensure consistent material handling procedures with awareness of safe material transport according to environmental and hazardous materials protocols. Verify quality by monitoring lines, performing PQA checks to ensure product is manufactured to specification; report nonconformance. Maintain a 5S-ready, clean, and orderly workspace; know performance metrics and work toward targeted objectives. May perform weekly associate maintenance and preventive maintenance procedures; troubleshoot as needed. Assist RD&E with experiments as requested. Receive materials to stock, store, issue raw materials and miscellaneous items for production use with inventory accuracy (cycle counts and daily transactions). Properly label and package reels for shipment to customers; verify quality check paperwork, barcode, data sheets, and reel tags; inspect reels for damage and print statements. Work in a team environment to optimize output of quality product and promote safety awareness. You may be assigned duties not contained in this description and may be required to acquire forklift certification. This position requires standing for extended periods, potential overtime, weekends and holidays; the plant operates 24/7. Working Conditions Good working conditions with occasional heavy lifting. Some exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, and noise; non-disagreeable. Location: Winston-Salem, NC Education/Experience High School diploma or GED. Acquire in-depth MES knowledge and thorough understanding of manufacturing processes. Knowledge of machine EOE/AA including Veterans and Disabled.
