Description As Director of Robotics, you will collaborate with operating units, physicians, clinical teams, and administrative staff to promote safe, efficient, and evidence‑based delivery of care. You will align departmental goals with organizational priorities, facilitate interdisciplinary coordination, and drive continuous improvement across all aspects of the program.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Planning and Development
Create and implement a long‑term vision and strategy for robotic surgery.
Chair committees, provide reports and recommendations to hospital committees and MECs.
Develop and update training and credentialing guidelines.
Program Management
Oversee day‑to‑day operations: scheduling, resource allocation, and quality assurance.
Develop policies, procedures, and quality review processes.
Collaborate with departments throughout the hospital.
Staff Training and Education
Ensure surgeons, nurses, and other staff are trained in robotic surgical systems.
Establish and retain a core robotic team with ongoing training initiatives.
Provide clinical and operative support to new and existing robotic surgeons.
Technology Acquisition and Management
Evaluate and select appropriate robotic surgical systems.
Ensure proper maintenance and upkeep of equipment.
Financial Management
Participate in budget planning and present capital needs to executive leadership.
Manage program budget, including capital expenditures, operating costs, and revenue generation.
Collaboration and Communication
Partner with surgeons, administrators, and stakeholders to promote the program.
Collaborate with operating‑room staff to improve efficiency and reduce turnover times.
Quality Improvement
Monitor KPIs and implement initiatives to optimize patient outcomes and program efficiency.
Outreach
Engage referring physicians to increase referrals and support subspecialty recruitment.
Build relationships with key physicians in targeted areas.
Deliver presentations at physician meetings, regional events, and dinners.
Support recruitment and development of additional robotic subspecialties.
Maximize regional community exposure of the Robotic Program.
Travel May be required to travel between operating units.
Work Type On‑site employee.
Minimum Required Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration (MHA) or business administration (MBA).
Experience 7 years of robotics experience with 3 years in management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (required) Strong technical understanding and leadership qualities to navigate complex challenges, drive innovation, and manage resources effectively.
Preferred Qualifications Education Nursing preferred (BSN or MSN) or master’s degree in healthcare administration (MHA) or business administration (MBA).
Experience 7+ years in robotics experience and 5+ years in management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs)
Lift and carry up to 25 lbs (occasionally).
Occasional standing, walking, sitting, and close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing).
Physical demands may vary depending on assigned tasks.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, bio‑hazardous waste, communicable diseases, electrical shock, and other hazards. Personal protective equipment is required, and conditions may vary by work area.
