Base Pay:
$64,188.80 - $106,995.20 per year. Sign‑On Bonus Opportunity:
$10,000. Schedule
Night shift: 11:30 PM – 8:00 AM. Location
District of Columbia – Washington; CN Hospital (Main Campus) Responsibilities
Technical Performance
Perform microbiology, mycology, virology, molecular diagnostics, and immunology procedures in accordance with established protocols. Record and report results, operate and maintain equipment, monitor quality control standards, and evaluate new instruments and tests. Cultivate, isolate, and assist in identifying bacterial and other microorganisms in body fluids, exudates, skin scrapings, autopsy and surgical specimens. Apply in‑depth knowledge of own discipline to solve complex problems independently. Lead projects or project steps within broader initiatives and serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues. Rotate weekends and holidays; maintain flexibility across day, evening, and night shifts as needed. Test Results
Report tests accurately in writing, orally, and/or in the LIS, demonstrating knowledge of the LIS system. Follow established guidelines for reporting STAT results and critical values, documenting calls appropriately. Credit tests using correct workload exclusion codes. Review testing logs and complete tests within the shift. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform equipment and instrument maintenance per protocol. Follow manufacturer and department-defined performance checks and calibrations before testing. Troubleshoot and resolve basic instrument malfunctions per written guidelines. Make adjustments or minor repairs with instrument manuals or technical service assistance. Assist Medical Lab Technicians in resolving problems and monitor supply inventories. Quality Control
Perform, evaluate, and report QC protocols; identify and resolve QC failures. Assist MLT and LA with unresolved problems. Complete competency and proficiency challenges timely. Ensure efficient and cost‑effective use of supplies and reagents. Staff Training
Assist in training new employees. Serve as technical resource for Medical Lab Technicians and Laboratory Associates. Write and update procedures as assigned. Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or an equivalent related field of science. Minimum Work Experience:
1‑2 years in an accredited clinical laboratory. Required Licenses & Certifications:
Medical Technologist (MT) Registry or eligible as MT (ASCP).
