Job Description Controls Engineer

As part of this team, you will learn from experts and may have opportunities to participate in industry events.

What You’ll Do You will work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients, helping them improve performance and achieve their goals.

Develop automation solutions and participate in all phases of automation projects, including design specifications, software configuration and testing, and commissioning/start‑up of high‑speed and other automated manufacturing processes.

Design automation control systems and create project documentation and drawings to meet client requirements.

Diagnose automation problems.

Interface with teams, clients, and vendors.

Configure software and hardware packages according to client design specifications.

Program PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, Rockwell) and HMI/SCADAs (FactoryTalk, Cimplicity, Wonderware, Ignition).

Communicate plan progress to project stakeholders.

Manage engineering projects, deliverables, site construction, installation, start‑up support, and commissioning of facility systems following established protocols.

Make an impact day‑to‑day with your skills and expertise, strengthening relationships with clients and the team.

What You’ll Bring

A track record of proficiency in control systems, troubleshooting, and high‑intensity environments.

Minimum of 6+ years of direct experience as a controls engineer in automated processes or system integration within food, beverage, consumer health, or industrial manufacturing.

Experience designing automation control systems (PLC, SCADA).

Solid understanding of industrial control panel design and fabrication (UL508A).

Solid understanding of instrumentation and controls (I&C).

Solid understanding of engineering documentation (P&ID, process flow diagram, SOPs).

Experience with field instrumentation, control system installation, and configuration.

Familiarity with machine safety applications, electrical power distribution, and control panel design.

Proficiency in written and verbal technical communication, including reports and presentations.

Willingness to travel for project requirements, including installation, start‑up, meetings, training, and industry seminars.

Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering or a similar technical field (preferred).

The approximate pay range for this position is $80,000 – $110,000.

Final compensation may vary based on factors such as background, knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.
