This role assists in bringing forward marketplace perspective and pragmatic solutions/analyses to optimize AstraZeneca’s net price, access objectives and continued leadership in innovative contracting. The individual will support the development of contract and channel strategies that align with Brand Team/Therapeutic Area business strategies for launch and in‑line products, collaborate with account teams on customer initiatives, build negotiation strategies, and implement them with teams. The role will also work closely with internal collaborators such as Access Strategy, Brand Leadership, Value Strategy and Evidence, Brand and Market Access Finance, Contract Operations, and Legal. They are responsible for ensuring contract strategies and offerings are financially justified, evaluating performance, and delivering segment strategies for their Therapeutic Areas on a timely basis.
Typical Accountabilities
Assist in the development of contract strategies and bring them through the approval/governance process
Directly partner with customer‑facing teams around prioritized key initiatives
Co‑develop and execute negotiation strategies
Coordinate with a team of analysts/specialists in operational activities such as rebates, chargebacks, government reporting, contract writing and process approvals
Monitor environmental shifts in trends or behaviors, interpret likely impact and suggest appropriate actions around life‑cycle contracting and pricing considerations
Develop a deep understanding of competitive market conditions that affect pricing for individual brands, therapeutic areas and overall industry
Serve as a resource for Licensing and Business Development in assessing pricing on potential opportunities
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree; preferably in a relevant field (Finance, Economics, Marketing or Science)
3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
Strong proficiency and experience in Market Access and Healthcare delivery systems
Analytical skills including problem solving, forecasting, contract development and financial/claim data modeling
Demonstrated large payer negotiation & relationship‑building skills
Solution/Innovation mindset
Desirable Qualifications
MBA/JD and understanding of healthcare/market access marketing and sales practices
Detailed understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing business models with specific knowledge of brand team operation, brand finance and brand planning and sales
Finance, market access and/or analytics background
