YMCA Camp Loma Mar is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic seasonal Program Director to lead our dynamic overnight summer camp programs and other seasonal programming from January through October. The Program Director will oversee the development and execution of high‑quality, mission‑driven programs that embody the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility in a safe and inclusive environment. Responsibilities
Planning: Foster a climate of innovation to develop participant‑focused programs that support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
Staffing: Share responsibility for all stages of the employee life cycle for seasonal teams of up to 40; develop and motivate a mission‑driven staff team.
Program Management: Directly supervise assigned program/operational areas; on‑site manager responsible for all facets of the overnight summer camp that runs 6 weeks with an average of 150 campers per week; work with Operations Manager to grow and manage weekend group/rentals and family camp programming.
Logistics: Oversee inventory management, compliance, and operations.
Customer Service: Respond to inquiries in a timely manner, provide excellent customer service, handle sensitive and escalated matters for prospective and attending camp families.
Safety: Manage compliance processes and ensure implementation of all required policies for camps; train and enforce a safe and engaging environment for children.
Crisis Management: Respond to emergencies, behavioral issues, and medical needs.
Relationship Building: Model relationship‑building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
Budget: Manage and monitor assigned budget(s) to meet or exceed budget targets, in accordance with Association procedures.
Facilities: Ensure the safety of all; work to maintain a sanitary facility and report maintenance issues to appropriate personnel.
Leadership: Think, communicate and behave as a cause‑driven leader and role model for other staff and members regarding desired staff behaviors; promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job‑related functions.
Other: Special project or other duties as assigned.

Ability to think conceptually, analyze and solve problems, and demonstrate assertiveness to manage the scope and diversity of the responsibilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and other computer programs necessary to perform the duties of the job.
Lifeguard/ACCT or ability to obtain prior to start of camp season.
CPR, First Aid, AED and O2 certifications must be obtained within first 60 days.
Requirements
At least 25 years of age with a high school diploma or GED required.
At least two prior seasons of administrative or supervisory experience in an organized camp or in a summer program working with children.
Past management or leadership experience is required; experience hiring and managing teams of 5 or more is preferred.
Additional Job Requirements
On‑site management at camp can be physically demanding, with extended periods of time on your feet, outside, and occasional activity requiring physical exertion.
