About the Opportunity Assist during surgical procedures by ensuring and maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field and providing instrumentation as needed to the surgical team. Participate in unit activities that assure high levels of quality related to patient care, functioning under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
What You Will Do
Apply the theory and practice of sterile and aseptic technique, combining knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and the use of tools and technologies in invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Demonstrate working knowledge of AORN standards.
Maintain and verify all items for proper packaging, processing, moisture, seal, sterile indicator, and expiration dates. Ensure the operating room environment is safe and equipment functions properly to support patient safety.
Monitor the sterile field for events that may contaminate, interfere, or alter the field and initiate or notify corrective action under supervision.
Work toward competency or demonstrate competency with Tier 1 surgical cases.
Maintain flexibility while contributing to individualized, ongoing delivery of care within the scope of practice.
Model effective, timely communication with the perioperative team and fully participate in the Time‑Out Process, including briefings and debriefings.
Assist the team with patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparation.
Model professional behavior and maintain currency in new technologies and procedures, including instrumentation and equipment.
Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
Act as a role model for the principles of Just Culture and Organizational Values.
Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

Experience and Qualifications
Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or Licensed Surgical Technologist.
Licensed as a Surgical Technologist in the state of Colorado (required).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job‑specific competencies, access online forms and policies, and complete online benefits enrollment.
Working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
Computer/typing skills sufficient to complete job‑specific tasks.
