Position Summary TCW is a privately held global asset manager specializing in fixed‑income, equities, and alternative investments. With five decades of experience, TCW delivers investment strategies that use rigor and deep analysis to break from consensus. The firm builds high‑conviction portfolios to minimize risk and deliver compelling returns for clients, including major corporate and public pension plans, financial institutions, endowments, foundations, insurers, and high‑net‑worth individuals.

A critical part of TCW’s growth plan is expanding its product lineup across both public and private markets. The Head of Product Development & Strategy will formulate and execute the firm’s product strategy for the next phase of growth and optimize the existing product suite across asset classes and vehicles.

The role is a high‑priority leadership position. The successful candidate will serve as a key architect in evaluating TCW’s current product landscape and shaping institutional and wealth offerings.

Essential Duties

Lead efforts around product rationalization and platform evolution, enhancing product design for existing offerings and identifying opportunities to repurpose vehicles.

Monitor competitor and market trends, including new vehicle structures and innovations.

Analyze competitor flows and fundraising activity to inform TCW’s product launch priorities and focus resources on high‑growth segments.

Stay abreast of regulatory developments impacting fund structures and adapt TCW’s platform accordingly.

Leverage industry research, consultant feedback, and client insights to inform the product roadmap.

Build relationships with investment banks, administrators, consultants, and placement agents.

Partner with TCW’s global distribution teams to engage intermediaries, RIAs, family offices, and institutional consultants for demand validation.

Foster collaboration across internal teams to align investments, sales, legal, operations, risk, and compliance from ideation through launch and ongoing management.

Chair and lead the Product Development Committee to govern and prioritize new product proposals.

Drive operational readiness and coordinate cross‑functional execution across the product lifecycle.

Oversee end‑to‑end product development from concept to launch and rationalization.

Conduct annual diagnostic reviews of the product platform.

Integrate disciplined project management practices to execute multiple initiatives efficiently.

Provide ongoing analysis of product performance, positioning, and competitiveness.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 15 years of experience in investment management with direct exposure to public and private markets.

Progressive leadership experience in building, leading, and scaling product development and management teams.

Track record of developing, launching, and structuring investment products across multiple vehicles.

Established relationships with market participants and service providers globally.

Experience collaborating with senior leaders across operations, technology, finance, risk, legal, and compliance.

Deep understanding of statutory, legal, regulatory, tax, compliance, and structural considerations globally.

Strong internal relationship building and influencing skills across investment teams and distribution organizations.

Experience presenting to executive management and internal approval committees.

Desired Qualifications

Graduate degree and CFA designation a plus.

Work Location & Availability Requires working from a TCW office a minimum of four days a week. Flexibility for remote work is offered on one day, depending on business needs.

Estimated Compensation

Base Salary:

For CA/NY based position, range $350,000 – $400,000.

Other Compensation:

Eligible to be considered for an annual discretionary bonus.
