Position Overview

The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for implementing and supporting cloud automation, infrastructure as code, and DevOps best practices to enable scalable and efficient cloud operations. This role will focus on codifying infrastructure, security, networking, and governance, ensuring cloud environments are repeatable, secure, and highly available. The engineer will develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate cloud provisioning, and work with development and operations teams to enhance platform reliability and efficiency. The ideal candidate is passionate about cloud automation, has a strong technical foundation in modern infrastructure practices, and thrives in a DevOps culture focused on continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities

Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, Bicep, or similar tools to automate cloud infrastructure.

Develop and support CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps to streamline application deployments and infrastructure automation.

Automate cloud governance, security, and compliance enforcement using policy-as-code frameworks.

Work with Kubernetes (AKS preferred) and containerized workloads to optimize deployment, scaling, and automation.

Develop and improve configuration management processes using Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.

Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions as code to enhance system visibility and reliability.

Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate automation into cloud environments and improve efficiency.

Participate in troubleshooting, incident response, and performance optimization for cloud-based services.

Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD; 4 years additional experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.

Minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience in DevOps, system administration, or software engineering roles.

Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep) and Configuration as Code (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).

5+ years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD automation, and cloud infrastructure management.

Experience setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD or similar tools.

Experience with integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to ensure software and data pipeline reliability.

Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., PyTest, Selenium, JUnit) for CI/CD pipelines.

Professional experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.

Understanding of Policy as Code (OPA, Sentinel, Azure Policy) and Security as Code best practices.

Familiarity with Kubernetes (AKS preferred) and container orchestration concepts.

Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.

Basic knowledge of Networking as Code principles and cloud security best practices.

Experience with observability toolsPrometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry) is a plus.

Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for automation and continuous improvement.

Experience writing code for applications or automation.

Experience with programming languages for online applications, microservices, APIs or mobile applications.

Experience building, testing applications or automation.

Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
