Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel program.
The selected candidate will lead a team of GN&C Software Test Engineers in the planning, execution, tracking, and technical problem solving of Software Test activities to include test procedure development, automated test framework development, software/hardware integration and formal requirements verification as part of a larger AVE GN&C Software Development group. The candidate’s role will be as a GN&C Software Engineer and Work Package Lead (WPL). This is a position that needs both technical understanding as well as program management skills--a deep understanding of software engineering life cycle as it relates to embedded systems as well as Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques are required.

Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications
Sr Principal Software Engineer - AVE GN&C Software
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related experience, or PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of experience
Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company to meet its business need
5 Yrs of experience with Agile, Git, GitLab, or Bitbucket and working in cross-functional Scrum team
5 Yrs of experience leading Software Engineering teams with the ability to team plan, execute, and manage the technical scope, and support leadership planning
5 Yrs of experience in software development using languages such as C/C++, Python
5 Yrs of experience with MBSE, software design & requirement management
5 Yrs of experience with software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug, and maintenance
5 Yrs of experience in directing software/system architecture decisions and developing command and control software
1 Yr of experience as a Work Package Lead (WPL) tracking and managing schedule and performance
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in planning, executing, tracking the work of multi-discipline teams via Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc)
Experience in identifying and implementing requirements and architecture traceability at the Segment to CSCI boundary
Experience mentoring and developing junior-level engineers.
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team setting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with DO-178C Flight Critical Systems Safety programming
Experience with certification, airworthiness, testing, and qualification of flight and safety critical systems.
CAM certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months of start date
Primary Level Salary Range Primary Level Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
