About This Opportunity The Tax Director is responsible for all aspects of Orion’s corporate tax function including tax reporting, compliance, and advising on tax‑related issues. This position will develop and implement strategies to minimize tax liability and ensure compliance with the appropriate tax codes. For External Candidates Candidates must work in‑office at one of the following locations for at least 3 days per week: Omaha, NE.

In This Role, You’ll Get To
Develop appropriate tax planning initiatives/strategies and recommendations to ensure the most effective tax position for Orion
Conduct technical research and maintain compliance with IRS as well as state and local rules/regulations
Ensure all M&A transactions are accurately recorded in the provision and reported on the income tax returns
Advise management on tax implications of business transactions, acquisition, and expansion activity
Monitor legislative changes and proposals and assess potential impact on current tax strategy
Oversee the work of external tax consultants or auditors and participate in the audit process
Research and draft responses to inquiries from government agencies regarding tax filings, compliance, and other claims
Facilitate and manage the preparation of the company tax filings including, but not limited to, planning, registering, preparing, filing, and coordinating payment of federal, state, and local income, sales, property, business license, and other tax returns, estimated payments and extensions
Effectively articulate the business impact of tax matters to the executive team and private equity sponsors
Collaborate proactively and communicate clearly with CFO, executive leadership and sponsors on tax‑related strategy and decision‑making as needed
Ensure all state tax incentive programs are filed accurately and timely
Ensure sales and use tax returns are filed accurately and timely
We’re Looking For Talent Who
Has extensive knowledge of corporate tax and an understanding of sales and use tax laws
Has knowledge of tax accounting principles, SOX, ASC 740, U.S. GAAP
Is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Has a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in corporate tax and prior experience with the Big 4 accounting firms preferred
Has a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field – Master’s preferred
Owns and manages relationships with stakeholders directly and works effectively with people at all levels in an organization
Salary Range $123,491.00 – $196,279.00 (estimated)
