Position Summary
As a Distinguished Engineer in Emerging Tech at Walmart, you will serve as the Lead Architect supporting the Emerging Content and Compass teams in building next-generation platforms that leverage Generative AI (GenAI), mGPS, and Computer Vision AI (CVAI) technologies. Your work will define the future of intelligent retail experiences at massive global scale.

About the Role In this role, you will design and architect large-scale, high-performance systems that power real‑time, intelligent customer and associate experiences. You will play a critical part in advancing Walmart’s AI‑driven technology strategy by developing platforms and frameworks that seamlessly integrate Agentic systems, mobile, and web architectures.
Key Responsibilities
Architect Next‑Gen Platforms: Lead the design and development of scalable, cloud‑native platforms leveraging GenAI, mGPS, and CVAI technologies.
Enable Intelligent Experiences: Build systems that power real‑time, data‑driven, and adaptive customer interactions.
Drive Technical Vision: Partner with cross‑functional engineering, AI/ML, and product teams to define and implement architectural strategy for emerging technology initiatives.
Collaborate Across Domains: Work closely with backend, mobile, and web engineering teams to ensure end‑to‑end performance, reliability, and seamless user experiences.
Champion Excellence: Set and uphold high standards for performance, accessibility, security, and engineering best practices across the technology stack.
Influence & Mentor: Act as a thought leader and mentor to engineers across global teams, fostering a culture of technical innovation, learning, and excellence.
What You Will Bring
Deep expertise in large‑scale distributed systems, AI‑driven architectures, and cloud‑native engineering.
Proven experience designing and implementing Agentic, mobile, and web‑based platforms.
Strong background in real‑time systems, data streaming, and event‑driven architectures.
Demonstrated collaboration with AI/ML, backend, and product teams to deliver innovative solutions.
Commitment to performance, accessibility, and security as core architectural principles.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; 15+ years of software engineering experience preferred.
