Project Overview The Enterprise Portfolio Manager is responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and coordinating project and program resources engaged with all initiatives within the selected enterprise portfolio(s). The position is also responsible for senior executive engagement and reporting on the state and performance of initiatives within the selected project portfolio. This role assumes the overarching responsibility for supporting organizational and leadership in their efforts at overseeing, managing and leveraging the entire life cycle of project and program investments and initiatives to optimally achieve enterprise goals and objectives.

Job Functions & Responsibilities

Facilitate and coordinate the efforts of senior leadership toward the establishment of the enterprise portfolio definition, its structure and processes, from demand management and strategic alignment of projects and programs to portfolio categories and criteria, through evaluation, selection and prioritization; to execution, tracking and measuring the achieved results and benefits. Proactively review project documentation and deliverables for completeness, quality, and compliance with established EPMO standards and ensure the oversight and coordination of dependencies across the projects and programs in the portfolio, and resolves or escalates conflicts. Able to identify root causes and suggest corrective actions or alternative solutions. Reports findings to management and makes recommendations. Lead reviews of any significant initiatives, projects or programs that are challenged and provide recommendations as to whether it should continue, be significantly changed, placed on hold or discontinued. Maintain high quality of information in PPM tools. Identify gaps and escalate for corrective action. Influence how to leverage the PPM tool based on organizational needs. Transform data to information that enables decision-making and puts forward the key message/takeaways. Create various types of portfolio documentation and views, summarizing key data elements and identifying items for closer review. Track and report the financials for each project and program, with a roll-up to the portfolio level. Ensure that financial policies are followed. Perform reviews and audits of financial transactions entered in the PPM Tool. Prepare portfolio level analysis and reporting of resource utilization; compare modeled/planned resource mix to actual resource mix and utilization. Prepare findings and recommend corrective actions. Track and manage resource allocation and resource utilization. Manage communications with portfolio stakeholders throughout the project, program and portfolio lifecycle. Direct the development and maintenance of communications and reporting around the portfolios, their contents and the individual performance of initiatives to stakeholders, the portfolio steering committees, and senior executives. Ensure adherence to the appropriate governance functions relating to the portfolio and in accordance with EPMO guidelines, policies and practices. Skills

Thorough understanding of project/program/portfolio management techniques and methods. Working knowledge of Project Controls techniques and methods. Working knowledge of performance evaluation and change management principles. Outstanding leadership, organizational and presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse personality types. Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail. Ability to understand technical issues at a high level when collaborating with engineers and other technical specialists. Results driven – ability to hold team members accountable, by keeping the team engaged and on task and working collaboratively. Self-confidence to be assertive when taking a position and constructively resolve differences and build consensus among partners. Comfortable working in a “matrix-type” structure with relatively little initial guidance. Ability to make recommendations and inspire change across multiple levels of the organization – from individual engineers and program managers to business unit leaders. A “self-starter” approach to tackle a range of issues is essential. Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or a related field required. Advanced specialty degree or Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from a school accredited by the ABET is preferred (or certification). Minimum 6-8 years of work experience in a related field (9-12). Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working within a Portfolio/Project Management/Controls environment required (5+). Prior experience providing work direction to a team preferred (required). Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), Project Management Professional (PMP), AACE, or similar certification preferred.
