We need a

Sr. Network Engineer

for a 9+ month contract for a public sector client in Long Beach, CA.

This role will be REMOTE with periodic visits to the HQ facility in Long Beach, CA. Thus, our client would prefer a person who lives in Southern CA as close as possible to Long Beach.

The Sr. Network Engineer will lead and manage critical network projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate

expert-level proficiency in Cisco switching, routing, and voice technologies , as well as hands-on experience with modern

Unified Threat Management (UTM) systems and next-generation firewall/security appliances . This role is pivotal in designing, deploying, and optimizing network infrastructure to support robust and secure operations across the organization.

Tasks, Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Lead multiple network projects by providing strategic oversight and technical guidance from design through implementation and troubleshooting. 2. Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco network equipment, including switches, routers, and voice systems. 3. Implement, maintain, and optimize modern UTM solutions and next-generation firewall appliances to safeguard network integrity and data security. 4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network solutions align with organizational objectives and best practices. 5. Develop, document, and enforce network policies and procedures that promote operational excellence and security compliance. 6. Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior network staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation

Education, Skills and Desirable Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field Extensive background in

Cisco switching, routing, and voice systems. Proven experience in managing

large-scale network projects

and leading technical teams. Hands-on expertise with modern

UTM systems and next-generation firewall/security appliances. Hands-on expertise with Network Access Control (NAC) systems. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project management skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher (e.g., CCIE) is highly desirable Relevant certifications in
