16 hours ago Be among the first 25 applicants The Sr. Director of DME Strategy & Operations, is an entrepreneurial leader and operational architect, entrusted with launching and maturing a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) venture. As an Executive in Residence (EIR), this individual brings deep industry expertise and a hands-on leadership style to establish a high performing, mission-aligned organization from the ground up. This role demands a bold builder—a leader who not only understands the strategic and regulatory nuances of the DME industry but also thrives in the complexity of health system alignment, compliance, and performance execution. The Sr. Director will own the full spectrum of the venture’s operational life cycle: from initial vision and infrastructure design, through licensure and clinical integration, to financial sustainability and patient-centered service delivery. A proven track record in healthcare operations, compliance, and supply chain management is essential, as is a passion for innovation and impact. The Sr. Director will collaborate closely with clinical leaders, population health teams, and strategic partners to ensure the DME offering enhances care quality, improves access, and supports long-term goals in value-based health delivery. The ideal candidate is a strategic executor—capable of translating vision into operational excellence—and is motivated by the opportunity to stand up a new enterprise that will directly impact lives across South Carolina and beyond. Position Overview: The Sr. Director, DME Strategy and Operations, will serve as an Executive in Residence (EIR) for Strategic Ventures, leading the design, build-out, and initial operations of the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Ventures. This role will provide day-to-day leadership for all aspects of startup execution, including infrastructure design, licensure, clinical integration, compliance, and operational readiness. This position functions as a full-time engagement during the launch phase, with the potential to transition into a permanent operational leadership role following successful go-live. The Sr. Director will work closely with the clinical enterprise, payor strategy, supply chain, and population health teams to ensure that the DME company is a high-quality, cost-effective, and compliant extension of the mission to improve health across South Carolina. Key Responsibilities & Success Criteria: 1. Company Build-Out & Operational Design (35%) • Lead the creation of the DME operating model, workflows, staffing structure, and service offerings. • Oversee implementation of logistics systems, inventory management, and technology platforms. • Ensure operational readiness for launch across clinical, administrative, and patient-facing functions. Success Criteria: • Launch readiness achieved on schedule. • Core operational infrastructure validated. • Key workflows and SOPs implemented and tested. 2. Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation (20%) • Lead all aspects of licensure, CMS/DMEPOS compliance, and accreditation. • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and documentation to support regulatory requirements. • Prepare for and manage initial and ongoing audits. Success Criteria: • Accreditation and licensure obtained prior to go-live. • 100% compliance with CMS/DMEPOS standards. • Documentation and controls validated by Compliance. 3. Clinical & Strategic Alignment (20%) • Collaborate with service lines to ensure DME offerings meet clinical needs and care pathway integration. • Coordinate with population health and payor strategy to support value-based care initiatives. • Ensure alignment with brand and experience standards. Success Criteria: • DME services aligned with at least three priority service lines. • Documented integration into patient care workflows. • Clinical satisfaction and adoption metrics established. 4. Talent, Vendor, and Partner Management (15%) • Recruit, train, and manage early-stage team members. • Identify and negotiate with key suppliers, manufacturers, and distribution partners. • Establish vendor performance standards and service level expectations. Success Criteria: • Core team in place 30 days before launch. • Vendor contracts executed with defined SLAs. • Operational relationships managed to performance benchmarks. 5. Financial Modeling & Performance Oversight (10%) • Build the financial model including pro forma, cost structure, and revenue projections. • Design billing and reimbursement workflows. • Monitor early performance and refine operating plan as needed. Success Criteria: • Approved business and financial plan. • Billing operations live with payor connectivity. • Performance targets monitored and optimized within first 90 days Must Haves: 10+ years of experience working in DME, healthcare supply chain, or GPO Ability to build and lead healthcare service organizations or business units. Strong understanding of CMS, DMEPOS accreditation, and regulatory compliance. Exceptional project execution, team leadership, and vendor management skills Must live in or be willing to travel to South Carolina as necessary Plusses: Experience with clinical integration and health system alignment Master's degree in Business, Health Administration, or related field PMP, Lean, or Six Sigma certifications Compensation: $100/hr to $130/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Eligibility to enroll in the 401(k) retirement plan begins after 90 days of employment.
