Our associates are expert quality assurance professionals with extensive experience and local expertise, enabling us to represent our clients on-demand and with greater speed and efficiency than our competitors. We are searching for a qualified Quality Mechanical Inspector in the San Diego, CA Area. This is a part-time opportunity supporting our client at one or more supplier sites. This role requires an experienced professional with a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of quality assurance practices. Conduct visual, physical, and dimensional inspections (both in-process and final) of parts, per project specifications and requirements Perform incoming inspections from external providers of products and services (e.g., nickel plating) Conduct in-process and final inspections of critical features, including witness inspections (e.g., CMM program run) Compile final inspection sign-off sheets and inspection packages Verify that inspection equipment is capable of detecting defects and ensure inspection methodology aligns with drawing intent Review and validate the justification for parts not inspected at final inspection Audit and validate the execution of inspection plans as applicable Document non-conformances using approved methods and submit non-conformance reports for customer disposition Verify hardware cleanliness and absence of foreign object debris Verify fasteners are properly installed; assure torque stripe is continuous and of correct color Ensure products are free of gaps, mismatches, fairing, and meet specified standards (e.g., oil canning, riding conditions, loose fasteners, scratches, burrs) Review and validate First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation, including completeness, traceability, and compliance Ensure the protection and preservation of inspected products for subsequent processing and shipment Verify shipping documentation for legibility and completeness, including part number, serial number, configuration change letter, and destination Required Qualifications:
Proficiency in dimensional inspection of precision tolerance parts Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with inspection tools Ability to interpret complex GD&T requirements and validate complex assemblies Experience with multiple primary and secondary part numbers (e.g., brackets, clips, doublers, splices, drip shields) Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder), refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State due to ITAR regulations. Preferred Qualifications:
Certified or previously certified in GD&T ASME Y-14.5 Diploma or GED from an accredited high school or technical school; college degree in engineering At least 2 years of experience as a Mechanical Inspector in manufacturing Note:
This position requires access to ITAR-controlled data. Candidates must meet U.S. citizenship or permanent residency requirements. Non-compliant applicants will not be considered.
