Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)
Responsible for providing legal advice, regulatory support and strategic expertise to Calpine’s Retail business lines and provides legal support in a variety of business negotiations and contractual agreements in the retail electricity and gas space. Handles a variety of legal projects; anticipates and guards against legal risks through a combination of directly representing Calpine Retail in legal actions or indirectly through the supervising attorney or the management of outside counsel. Negotiates retail sales agreements with commercial and industrial customers, and works closely with the Commodity Structuring Team(s) on Retail Product Design as well as drafting and revising Retail addenda/contracts.
Drafts term sheets and is generally proficient with wholesale trading contracts (ISDA and EEI) and credit structures. Responds to regulatory requests for information from both internal as well as external stakeholders. Negotiates contracts with vendors. Interprets and prepares legal documents/contracts, analyzes proposed and existing legislation and advises management on legal matters. Understands and applies law, regulation and administrative procedures associated with specialty areas of law and requires minimal professional guidance.
Requires working knowledge in a number of areas, including but not limited to, energy, corporate law, litigation, employment, contracts, environmental and regulatory affairs, and bankruptcy. Must have effective communications skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Job Requirements
Education & Experience:
JD from an ABA accredited law school
Typically 5-7 years of experience.
Salary Information - P osition eligible for annual bonus .
Salary range - $96,902.45 - $142,931.20
