What to Expect
The Tesla Construction Supply Chain team is seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and experienced Supply Chain Manager (SCM) focused on construction procurement to support our Austin Texas Gigafactory Construction Team.
As a Construction Supply Chain Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the implementation, facilitation, and execution of various procurement related activities. You will work hand in hand with our internal Tesla Construction Procurement team and collaborate cross-functionally with base build, construction engineering, and manufacturing engineering departments to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
In this role, you will own and manage the strategy within your assigned space including leading supplier selection decisions, managing and developing key supplier relationships, and driving commercial cost reductions. This role will report to the Sr. Manager for the Construction Procurement team.
What You’ll Do
Cultivate strong stakeholder support and cooperation on contracting activities
Pre-qualify suppliers by assessing their financial credibility, insurance policies and past project experience for efficient execution of Tesla's scope of work
Identify new potential suppliers and negotiate MSA level agreements
Efficient execution of RFx process to ensure all project scopes are contracted according to the required project schedule
Review, analyze and clarify bid packages received from service providers
Negotiate bid reductions and make award recommendations
Effectively operate with ambiguous scope & schedule requirements. Ability to make decisions based on incomplete information
Maintain day-to-day supplier relationships; act as the first point of contact for contractual disputes with suppliers
Effective execution of all responsibilities while operating under tight timelines with high stakes
Acting in an ethical and professional manner at all times, operating in the best financial interest of Tesla
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience
At least 3 years of experience in the heavy construction industry
The ideal candidate will have prior experience supporting a high-volume construction contracting operation. EPC or General Contractor experience is preferred
Knowledge and experience in the commercial and industrial market is preferred
Candidate should have some construction knowledge and basic ability to read construction drawings, specification, and contracting documents
Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills
Excellent analytical and judgment skills. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Bluebeam and/or Acrobat
Understanding of basic contract law and construction contract standards
Self-starter with the ability to adapt, improvise and problem solve
Ability to work independently on multiple tasks and projects with various stakeholders as well as organizational skills to manage and track transactional details
