Job Title: Quality Inspector II

Department: Quality

Reports to: Quality Engineer

FLSA Status: Non- Exempt

Purpose The purpose of the Quality Inspector II is to perform inspections on incoming and in‑process materials/components to verify that such meet required quality specifications. Manage data input and review non‑conformance of product and handle appropriately.

Primary Responsibilities

Inspect and measure incoming materials/components using established quality standards and documentation for each part

Inspect and measure start up and in‑process components using established quality standards and documentation for each part

Read blueprints and instructions to comprehend the quality expectations for the product and supplies

Approve or reject parts based on quality requirements

Assist Quality Engineer in performing First Article inspections as needed

Assist Quality Engineer and other engineering/management personnel in identifying in‑process or supplier trends

Assist Quality Engineer and other engineering/management personnel in identifying opportunities for improving processes and procedures related to quality and material flow

Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment

Maintain inspection records using spreadsheets or databases

Provide input on how to better processes and material flow with a LEAN manufacturing mentality

Makes certain that parts are moved and stored in a safe manner during inspection

Nonconformance and disposition of nonconformances

Assist Quality Engineer in administration of gage/instrument calibration program

Competencies And Skills

Certified Quality Inspector Certification through American Society for Quality is preferred

Ability to learn, understand, and effectively apply sampling plans

Experience with a broad range of machine parts

Ability to improvise measuring techniques when required

Excellent attention to detail with a quality mindset

Self motivated and able to work with minimal supervision

Ability to work in a team environment

Willingness to take further technical training in areas required to improve job skills when necessary

Ability to use computer or tablet to process transactions

Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, industry specifications and work instructions

Basic knowledge of measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore micrometers, height gauges, etc.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is mostly in a sitting position but will occasionally be required to walk and lift up to 50 lbs.

Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and walk.

Occasionally move up to 100 pounds using a pallet jack.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fume or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise in the work environment is moderate to loud. The primary responsibilities of this job involve working in a warehouse facility with exposure to both heat and cold.
