The
Clinical Research Nurse
is responsible for coordinating and overseeing clinical research operations for assigned trials, participating in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating compliant patient care in clinical research trials. The nurse works under the supervision of the principal investigator responsible for the trials.
Responsibilities
Assist the principal investigator in preparing proposed clinical trials, reviewing protocols, coordinating with departments, and ensuring resource availability.
Ensure timely submission of protocol revisions, informed consents, reviews, and adverse events to IRB.
Act as liaison between investigators and regulatory bodies, and collaborate on study feasibility, budgeting, and patient recruitment.
Review patient medical records, instruct patients and staff, assist with consent, and document patient histories.
Monitor patient progress, document responses, and maintain accurate records across systems.
Develop patient education materials, coordinate care, and notify investigators of adverse events.
Coordinate research activities, perform clinical duties (like EKGs), and review safety reports.
Represent the principal investigator in communications with sponsors, IRB, and medical staff.
Ensure proper billing, prepare for sponsor visits, and assist with data analysis and publication preparations.
Participate in research meetings, staff education, and other assigned duties.
Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :
BSN required (for hires/transfers after March 31, 2024); prior hires require at least an associate degree or diploma in Nursing.
Minimum 3 years clinical nursing or 1 year clinical nursing plus 2 years research experience.
Adherence to ANA standards, strong attention to detail, excellent communication and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Suite, ability to handle multiple tasks independently or in a team.
Preferred:
Certification in specialty area, such as CCRP, CCRA, or CCRC.
Licenses & Certifications
NJ State RN License.
AHA BLS Certification within 60 days of hire.
Preferred: Certification in clinical research.
