NIA is known for "deep dives" on important topics and for providing robust and complete information to policymakers.
Position Description Overview
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Analyst will be responsible for executing and/or assisting with NIA research projects and events, as well as engagement with policymakers, stakeholders, and media. This role is full-time, benefit eligible.
Possible Project Areas Include
U.S. NRC safety licensing for nuclear reactors and fuel cycle facilities U.S. NRC ADVANCE Act implementation U.S. NRC Environmental Reviews New nuclear energy's role in energy security and decarbonization Development and deployment of new nuclear energy and reactor technology State-level siting and regulation of new nuclear reactors Presenting and mentoring at the Nuclear Innovation Bootcamp
Responsibilities
Research, writing, external engagement, and project management Focusing on new nuclear energy regulation - conduct research, develop policy recommendations, and present your findings to policymakers Serve as an expert on new nuclear energy policy, regulatory, and technical issues Assist with stakeholder engagement, including interactions with new nuclear companies, industry organizations, NGOs, government officials, donors, and utilities Represent NIA at meetings, hearings, and events Assist in strategic planning, grant proposals, and grant reporting Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
MS/MA in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, energy policy, or related field required Experience with nuclear energy licensing, either at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission or the nuclear industry Experience with and knowledge of new nuclear energy technology and policy Possess excellent research, analysis, and communication skills Interest in and enthusiasm for new nuclear power as a solution for energy security and climate mitigation Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail Be considerate and respectful of others, consistent with a positive work environment Experience with fundraising and grant management is highly desired
