This Opportunity

kW Mission Critical Engineering, a WSP USA company, is seeking a

Building Automation and Controls Engineer

for our offices in Chicago, IL, and Milwaukee, WI.

As a Building Automation Controls Engineer, you will collaborate with senior engineers to design automation control and monitoring systems for data centers. Your work will include applications such as heat rejection systems, industrial air handling units, chilled water plants, and integration with HVAC and electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS). Responsibilities include developing drawings, specifications, points lists, and sequences of operations.

Your Impact

Plan and execute engineering tasks independently or within a team.

Support project proposals and construction phases.

Design controls for complex projects.

Develop drawings and specifications for project delivery.

Participate in client meetings and coordinate with vendors and team members.

Communicate control concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders.

Integrate mechanical and electrical engineering requirements into controls designs.

Maintain and develop client relationships.

Review and evaluate existing conditions and shop drawings to ensure quality.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate has experience with HVAC or process control systems from a vendor, commissioning agent, or design perspective. Strong communication skills and an interest in collaboration are essential.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

At least 3 years of experience in building automation control systems.

Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and knowledge of relevant codes.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Willingness to travel to project sites.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

EIT or PE license.

Experience with mission-critical/data centers and international projects.

WSP offers comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and retirement plans. The salary range is $85,100 - $97,400, commensurate with experience.
