Overview Merrick is seeking an experienced Project Engineer/Senior Process Engineer (12+ years of experience) to join our Energy, Manufacturing & Bioprocessing Business Unit. This full-time, direct-hire position will be responsible for engineering, design, coordination, client communications, and associated construction administration. This position will be located in one of the following offices: Greenwood Village, CO; Tulsa, OK; Chattanooga, TN; Baltimore, MD; Richmond, VA. Job Description: This Engineer will work in a dynamic multi-discipline environment, overseeing engineering deliverables, calculations, systems, and equipment selection. Responsible for the engineering budget and schedule management, maintaining professional relationships with vendors, customers, and other Merrick personnel as required by projects. The Engineer will work with other engineering and technical personnel to ensure overall project goals are met. Scope/Key Responsibilities: Project Engineer (PE) Liaison between the Project Discipline Leads (PDLs) and the Project Manager (PM). This primarily involves facilitating communication of project design elements that affect work between disciplines to ensure the team is driving to an integrated and cohesive final design. Supports the PM and assures the project team is executing the project within the approved scope, budget, and schedule Supports the PM with project setup; initial project setup includes developing or finalization the project schedule; coordinating inter-discipline milestones, setting up necessary project collaboration tools including SharePoint, Teams, and client-server file locations; developing or supporting the development of the project management plan (PMP); updating and maintaining the resource schedule and eResource; help in developing the meeting agenda for both the internal and external kick-off meetings, and coordinating document control process with the project team. Coordination of project information to and from each PDL, the PM, vendor, client, and the construction team. PE works closely with the document control team to ensure the project information is shared with the stakeholders and the submittals and transmittals are handled promptly to aid the flow of information. Setting up the internal weekly project status meetings and any external coordination meetings with vendors and subcontracts. Process Lead Managerial Leading, coaching, and directing a team of process engineers to complete process scope to cost and schedule. Accountable to the Project Manager for performance on the process design. Analytical - Synthesizes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data; Designs workflows and procedures. Design - Generates creative solutions; Translates concepts and information into images; Uses feedback to modify designs; Applies design principles; Demonstrates attention to detail. Problem-Solving - Identifies and resolves problems promptly; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem-solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics. Technical Skills - Assesses own strengths and weaknesses; Pursues training and development opportunities; Strives to build knowledge and skills continuously; Shares expertise with others. Team Work - Balances team and individual responsibilities. Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Presents numerical data effectively; can read and interpret written information. Verbal Communication Able to communicate with others at all levels within the organization. Able to report on progress to project senior management. Adaptability - Adapts to changes in the work environment. Professional Development: Maintains required licensing CEU. Proactively attempts to receive in-house/out-of-house training to maintain and update skills. Required Experience: Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering from ABET accredited program required. Experience working successfully in a collaborative environment. 12+ years of industry experience. Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain your PE within the first year of employment. Experience with Design/Build and EPC projects. Project Engineering experience. Experience leading teams of engineers on design projects. Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship. Desired Credentials and Skills: Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Internet software. In addition, experience in the following process software packages is advantageous: AFT Arrow AFT Fathom HYSYS Aspen Plus Physical Requirements: The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. This position is also eligible for annual performance and spot bonuses. The typical salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year. The pay range listed in this posting indicates the positions eligibility to work in the state of Colorado and is consistent with our offices there; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
