Position Overview C&S Companies is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer in the Buffalo, Rochester, or Syracuse, NY offices to support our growing railroad practice. You will be part of a team working on projects from conception through final design and construction. This position offers opportunities to work both in the office on engineering design of railroad infrastructure and in the field with construction inspection/administration. You will work on a variety of designs and projects with opportunities to learn and grow throughout your career at C&S.
Position Responsibilities Work collaboratively with internal and external staff on individual and team projects. Motivate and mentor junior staff members. Exhibit strong written and oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Manage all aspects of smaller projects or assigned tasks within larger projects. Assist in client relationship management and in obtaining additional business opportunities. Challenge oneself and seek to broaden knowledge base. Be proactive and anticipate project needs and challenges. Travel occasionally, estimated at 15%. Follow safe work practices in accordance with all applicable standards and regulations. Report incidents, accidents, near misses, hazards, and unsafe conditions promptly to supervisors or safety departments.
Skills, Education, and Experience B.S. in Engineering; M.S. is a plus. Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration. 10+ years of railroad-related design and construction experience. Experience preparing contract documents from bidding through design and award. Knowledge of AREMA Manual for Railway Engineering. Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation/InRoads and/or AutoDesk AutoCAD/Civil 3D; experience with Bentley OpenRoads is a plus.
Estimated Compensation Range: $85,000 - $110,000/year*

Candidates working on railroad projects will be enrolled in our drug and alcohol testing program as mandated by FRA regulations. Employment is contingent upon passing this test, administered by our provider.
