Director Risk Management

Our client is a growing IPP and looking for a Director of Risk to join their commercial team. This position is responsible for leading all aspects of risk management related to energy and commodity portfolios, including identifying, measuring, monitoring, and reporting various financial and operational risks. The role also oversees the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function, ensuring effective governance, policy compliance, and robust risk oversight across the organization. Key responsibilities include supervising a Senior Risk Analyst, reporting to executive leadership and the board, developing quantitative risk metrics (e.g., VaR, MtM), managing energy trading and risk management systems (ETRM), and guiding strategic risk mitigation related to hedging and portfolio management.

The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of experience in energy and enterprise risk management, particularly within the merchant energy or power sector. A strong background in financial risk methodologies, commodity markets, and middle office risk controls is essential. The role requires advanced education in finance or a related quantitative field, strong leadership and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to translate complex risk data into actionable insights and strategies.
