Audubon is currently seeking an Instrument Engineering Associate Principal to join our team in Houston, Texas. The Instrument Engineering Associate will perform instrument engineering assignments related to designing equipment, components, structures, or systems.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare advanced specifications for project assignments, detailing client performance requirements, design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
Create engineering sketches, perform calculations, and develop analysis models for complex projects.
Review and approve vendor drawings for compliance with project specifications.
Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other consultants.
Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget, setting realistic expectations.
Adhere to quality standards and follow engineering checking and approval procedures.
Comply with all HSSE standards and regulations.
Participate in hazard identification programs and report unsafe acts or conditions.
Collaborate with drafting/design groups to develop and review drawings.
Visit job sites and vendor facilities for evaluations and inspections.
Prepare inquiries, purchase requisitions, and bid tabulations.
Check engineering drawings and calculations.
Focus on safe design practices and cost-saving opportunities.
Manage workload, budgets, and resources for projects.
Develop and review engineering design packages and guidelines.
Assess project feasibility regarding materials, costs, and timelines.
Prepare reports, specifications, and schedules for projects.
Analyze strategies and applications to ensure proper procedures.
Resolve design issues and manage client relationships.
Estimate man-hours and total costs based on project scope.
Forecast project schedules and manage risks.
Conduct technical and feasibility studies, including site investigations.
Lead large, multi-discipline projects and manage team workflows.
Provide feedback on co-worker performance and work issues.
Offer advice on work techniques and best practices to colleagues.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably electrical engineering) from an ABET-accredited institution.
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
Field and industry experience required.
Minimum 20 years of experience preferred, with large project leadership experience.
Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation and control system design preferred.
Knowledge of design codes (ISA, NEC, API) preferred.
Strong decision-making, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
