Critical Power Group The Critical Power Group is responsible for maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting UPS systems, batteries, and other critical infrastructure equipment. Our technicians are factory trained on most major UPS manufacturers of static equipment (e.g., MGE/APC, Liebert, Toshiba/Mitsubishi, and Powerware/Eaton). Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, equipment testing, and emergency service calls at high-profile government, institutional, and commercial facilities. The group also provides engineering and technical support to customers and other divisions.

Responsibilities

Travel daily with an independent work structure

Be available for emergency calls 24/7 unless on PTO or Off Call

Maintain safeguard company-issued equipment, tools, and instruments

Install and repair static switch and PDU systems

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance

Interact with customers and interface professionally

Communicate availability status to the office and team leads

Protect company proprietary information, manuals, and records

Use electronic and electrical test equipment as necessary

Coordinate and manage on-site subcontractors

Maintain company or personal vehicle in safe condition and keep insurance current

Ensure work meets M.C. Dean standards

Complete all required paperwork accurately and timely

Provide technical support to customers upon request

Maintain technical documentation for review

Attend product-specific training as required

Cross-train team members as needed

Other Duties

Inspect static switch systems and associated controls, including maintenance checks and failure analysis

Certify systems and components adhere to quality standards

Review system drawings and specifications for accuracy and completeness

Provide technical assistance and perform inspections and maintenance

Advise site personnel on maintenance practices

Resolve technical problems and prepare reports with recommendations

Meet physical demands, including lifting batteries and working at heights

Operate various instruments and test equipment

Be available 24/7 for on-call duties, possibly requiring overnight travel

Supervisory Controls

Work under supervision of regional managers and team leads, with some autonomy

Perform inspections and certifications to ensure power system reliability and quality

Qualifications

AA/BS in Electrical/Electronics or equivalent training

Minimum 3+ years experience with UPS systems, batteries, and electrical apparatus

Ability to interpret schematics and technical documents

Knowledge of NEC, maintenance, and quality control procedures

Strong diagnostic and testing skills

Proficiency with laptops and software tools

Excellent communication skills

Willingness to undergo manufacturer training and certifications

Proficient with Microsoft Office
