Position Summary:
Without supervision, performs highly skilled preventative maintenance duties, fabrication, and major repairs of facilities, equipment, and systems; performs lower-level mechanical functions; and provides training and guidance to lower-level employees. Establishes and sets schedules for specialized equipment maintenance. Essential Job Functions:
This is not an exhaustive list; it provides a representative summary of major duties and responsibilities. Incumbents may not perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks. This position is specific for an Electrician with additional skills listed below. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Performs preventative maintenance on all minor and major equipment related to facilities, following Manufacturer O&M requirements. Troubleshoots and repairs facilities, equipment, and systems including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic circuits (motors, pumps, compressors, boilers, chillers, and water systems). Performs building (plumbing and carpentry) and equipment repairs using hand tools, power tools, and electrical troubleshooting with a volt-ohm meter. Assembles components from instructions or drawings and fabricates simple components or modifications. Maintains equipment including lubrication, disassembly, overhaul, reassembly, and replacing defective electrical or mechanical parts with original manufacturer parts. Sources and picks up ordered parts or supplies and restocks as needed. Complies with all safety, OSHA, and company policies and procedures. Assists in training and coaching other mechanics. Performs related duties as assigned. Required Knowledge and Skills:
SOP for equipment operations and maintenance, including safety rules. 8 years of technical and trade experience in at least three of the following systems: HVAC, Fire protection, electrical, plumbing, roofing, structural, pneumatic systems. Building trades including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, lighting, carpentry, and painting. Highly skilled in troubleshooting facilities and equipment issues. Ability to read blueprints and develop "As Built" drawings. Mathematical skills for computations and applications. Knowledge of safety regulations, hazard recognition, and corrective actions. Ability to analyze and troubleshoot equipment problems, recommend solutions, and implement methods for resolution. Perform preventative maintenance on all assigned equipment and systems. Repair techniques including cutting, drilling, gluing, caulking, fastening, brazing, soldering, and welding. Design and fabricate components or modifications. Read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Follow written and oral instructions. Train and coach other mechanics. Effective communication skills in English. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships. Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent, supplemented by vocational training, with at least 8 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing environment, or 5+ years in a similar role, with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 75 pounds. Exposure to toxic materials, gases, electrical hazards, and dangerous tools.
