Job Overview:
The Senior Purchasing Manager drives the strategy and execution for North American commodity purchasing, leads commercial negotiations, participates on new and current product and program launches and manages the commodity purchasing team. This highly motivated individual will lead the North American (NA) purchasing activities for direct commodities (raw materials, components, etc.) across the Mubea NA product portfolio. This position reports directly to the Head of Procurement NA.
Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: Manage the strategic sourcing process of materials and components for new and existing programs Manage and develop a team of purchasing professionals across NA Coordinate regional activities with global divisional / commodity purchasing leaders and develop regional commodity strategies for existing and new commodities Monitor and communicate commodity market developments including associated risks and opportunities Identify new potential suppliers for both new commodities and supplier localization / portfolio optimization Provide leadership in supplier negotiation sessions including articulating clear negotiation strategies Archive targeted annual material cost savings Act as point of escalation for commercial, quality, and other supplier related topics Establish and maintain KPIs and metrics to track commodity spend, key projects, and total savings Develop costing models through knowledge of supply base cost structure and market price/dynamics and identify opportunities based on appropriate cost drivers Actively drive continuous improvement efforts within purchasing to develop processes and implement best practices, controls, and procedures that support IATF and Mubea operating goals As Sr. Manager engage in non-core activities and cross-functional projects to promote and drive Mubea’s DBTB (Driven by the Best) culture This role can be located in our Auburn Hills, MI or Florence, KY location
Qualifications Required Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field 5-10 years progressive experience in procurement of direct material commodities in an automotive or industrial products environment Confidence and capability to lead a team of purchasing professionals, coach and develop talent, lead negotiations, and be a trusted partner to business unit leadership Ability to communicate and present, both written and verbally, complex analysis and ideas in a concise manner Continuous improvement mentality with a track record of taking initiative and driving step changes in organizations in the areas of people, process, and technology managing multiple stakeholders Expert knowledge of MS Office suite and procurement tools Ability to travel incl. international (15-30%) Preferred Education and Experience: Master’s degree in a related field Management consulting experience Professional purchasing and/or supply chain certification Experience working in an international organization Bilingual, e.g., German or Spanish The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
