Position Summary
The primary purpose of the Assistant Store Manager is to assist the Store Manager in daily store operations, ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandising, managing expenses and inventory, training and developing staff, human resources management, and providing outstanding customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the quality and performance of the retail store staff.
Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Model effective leadership to motivate store team towards goals and standards.
Assist with recruitment, training, and development of store personnel.
Support performance evaluations and provide feedback to the Store Manager.
Help manage expenses and develop strategies to meet budget goals.
Monitor store for issues related to loss or inventory discrepancies and address them.
Ensure operational compliance, safety, and business standards are maintained.
Support employee training in selling and merchandising techniques.
Uphold customer service standards to ensure a friendly environment and outstanding service.
Assist with merchandise inventory counts.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work a standard week not exceeding 40 hours, with a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
To succeed, candidates must perform each duty satisfactorily. Requirements include:
Minimum of one (1) year in retail management.
Skills and Knowledge
Solid business knowledge and excellent communication skills.
High interpersonal skills for handling sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
Ability to think strategically, plan, organize, and maintain professionalism.
Analytical skills for data gathering and problem-solving.
Results-driven with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
Discretion, confidentiality, and independent judgment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Willingness to work across multiple stores in the district.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel.
