Position Description:
University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics seeks a Director for the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. Appointment rank may be at either the tenure track or clinical (non-tenure) track at the Associate Professor or Professor level consistent with clinical experience and research interest.The Director will lead the division's clinical, educational and research missions as well as provide leadership and mentoring to our growing general pediatrics and adolescent medicine faculty. The Director will benefit from institutional resources and will have the opportunity to expand both the clinical and interdisciplinary research program.
The Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine has a long history of providing innovative care for Iowa's children. The dedicated faculty and health care teams want to make a difference in the health of Iowa's children and families by bringing evidence-based medicine to everyday practice and providing access to specialty care when needed. The division provides exceptional training to residents, medical students, and nurse practitioners who will lead pediatric care in the years ahead.
The division also provides child protection services, palliative care, child advocacy and child policy, and promotes communication between families and physicians and day care providers and physicians. The division also has a Diagnostic Clinic that assists community providers with children with diagnostic challenges or who have complex medical needs. The Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine has a certified child car seat safety inspector and promotes education, communication and training for children and families.

The pediatrics department comprises the medical staff of University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital, Iowa's only nationally ranked children's hospital and home to the state's only accredited Level 1 Regional Resource Pediatric Trauma Center. The ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program at Stead Family Children's Hospital trains 50 pediatric resident physicians.

Education Requirement:
Must hold an MD/DO degree, or equivalent Required Qualifications:
5 or more years of experience practicing pediatrics
Candidates must be licensed or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Iowa
Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment Certifications:
Board certified in Pediatrics, or equivalent Desirable Qualifications:
5 year or more of experience in an academic health system
Strength in teaching and scholarly pursuits
Ability to develop and implement clinical programs
Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
History of extramural funding
It is highly desired that tenure track candidates have a demonstrated a history of extramural federal funding for their scholarly activities (i.e., NIH, DoD, PCORI)
